April 17, 2018 to A.J. and Courtney for their review
Irvine, CA (April 25, 2018) Soho Network Services won second place among 100 competitors in an international hackathon to design a mobile application.
The Brother Mobile App Hackathon, designed to spur innovation in application development for mobile printing and labeling solutions, attracted a sell-out crowd in Irvine, California. Programming teams were given 12 hours to design, develop, and release an innovative application based on Brother Mobile Solutions software.
Joliware, the software development arm of Soho Network Solutions, was recognized for developing two brain wave monitoring applications using the MUSE meditation headband.
- One application developed during the hackathon used brain waves to monitor students during study and practice test sessions, then printed out targeted exercises designed to remedy areas in need of improvement.
- The second application monitored brain waves associated with stress in real time and delivers diagnosis and recommendations to the patient and physician.
As part of the contest deliverable each team was required to create a marketing video. The Soho video is here.
A.J. Jolivette, CEO of Soho and lead programmer for the hacking team, said, “People misunderstand the word “hack”. The real definition of ‘hacking’ is to make a system function in a way that was not intended. So hacking is innovation.”
